The Punta Gorda community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Hanby Leighton Ingram, who passed away on September 10, 2025, at just 17 years old. A young man with a radiant spirit and a zest for life, Hanby leaves behind cherished memories that will remain etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A Love for the Outdoors
Hanby’s life was deeply intertwined with nature and adventure. He had an undeniable passion for the outdoors, spending countless hours duck hunting, fishing, and sailing. The water was his sanctuary, a place where he found serenity and inspiration.
His love of sailing reflected his adventurous soul, as he navigated both the calm and unpredictable waves with confidence and joy. Family vacations to the mountains of North Carolina held a special place in his heart, where the beauty of the landscape matched his appreciation for life’s quiet, simple moments.

Simple Joys and Lasting Bonds
While Hanby loved adventure, he also found happiness in the ordinary pleasures of life. He could often be found golfing with friends, gaming, and enjoying the company of his family.

Animals held a special place in his heart; he had a natural gift for connecting with them and caring for their needs. His bond with his pets, and with animals in general, spoke to his compassion and sensitivity.

At a young age, Hanby demonstrated ambition and hard work. Alongside his brothers, he launched a landscaping business that served clients in Punta Gorda’s historic downtown district. This early entrepreneurial spirit highlighted his sense of responsibility, determination, and creativity.

Education, Work, and Aspirations
Hanby was a proud student of Florida Southwestern Collegiate High School, where he excelled academically and built meaningful friendships. He aspired to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering, a career path that reflected his fascination with machinery and problem-solving.

He loved working on cars, motors, and engines, often tinkering in the garage to see how things worked. This passion revealed his intelligence, curiosity, and hands-on approach to learning.

Outside of school, Hanby worked at Publix as a cashier and clerk. His warm personality, kindness, and sense of humor quickly made him a favorite among customers and colleagues alike. He carried himself with a maturity beyond his years, treating everyone he met with respect and a genuine smile.

Family and Loved Ones
Hanby was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family. He is survived by his father, Leighton Ingram (Danielle Carraway); his mother, Victoria Goode; his sister, Hunter Ingram; his brothers, Hugh and Harrison Ingram, and Evan, Noah, and Tristan Carraway; his aunt, Christina Daniels (Adam Button); and his cousins, Leighton and Rae Daniels.

A proud multigenerational Floridian, Hanby embraced his family’s roots while carving out his own identity. He was known as intelligent, funny, sensitive, and deeply kind—a loyal friend whose presence could brighten any room.

A Celebration of Life
To honor Hanby’s remarkable life, a Celebration of Life will be held on September 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Life Celebration Center of Punta Gorda. In tribute to Hanby’s joyful personality and love for color, guests are asked to wear light and bright colors only—with special recognition of his favorite color, purple.

He will be remembered as a young man whose adventurous spirit, quick wit, and compassionate heart left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
