A 23-year-old man identified as local rapper DMG Lil Deuce, whose real name was Jeremiah Dawson, was fatally shot on Chicago’s South Side late Friday.
According to Chicago police, officers responded to reports of gunfire near 91st Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, where they discovered Dawson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released details regarding possible suspects or motives. No arrests have been reported as of Saturday morning.
Lil Deuce, affiliated with the rap group DMG and known for his diss tracks directed toward rival 600 members, had been active in Chicago’s drill music scene. News of his death has quickly circulated on social media, where fans and fellow artists expressed shock and condolences.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy. Chicago police say the investigation is ongoing.
