Fbg Fatslime Death, Obituary: Emerging Rap Artist Killed in Cordova Shopping Center Shooting

Authorities are investigating after an 18-year-old man was found shot to death in a vehicle at a strip mall parking lot in Cordova Friday evening.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the victim, identified as Antonio Sykes Jr., also known by his stage name Fbg Fatslime, was discovered around 5:40 p.m. outside a smoke shop in the 1900 block of Berryhill Road.

Deputies said Sykes was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Shelby County Fire paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing between three to five gunshots before seeing the young man’s body slumped inside the car. Some witnesses initially believed the victim to be 23 years old, but officials later confirmed he was 18.

Traffic on Berryhill Road was briefly restricted during the investigation but has since reopened. Authorities said they do not expect the incident to interfere with the football game at nearby Cordova High School.

The case remains under active investigation as family, friends, and fans mourn the tragic loss of a rising artist whose life and career were cut short.
