The 19-year-old who was shot and killed in Merced on Monday has been identified as Iran Jermeal Hedrington.
The shooting happened around 9 pm in an alleyway near Martin Luther King Jr. Way and 18th Street.
Investigators say some type of confrontation between several people and Hedrington led up to the incident. That’s when shots were fired, and he died at the scene. Authorities say several suspects remain on the loose at this time.
Monday night’s incident is the third shooting to happen in Merced this month, but police do not believe they are related.
