Boom FM DJ “Swagga” Fatally Shot Near Radio Station in Kingstown

Gasroy Fergusson, widely known as DJ Swagga of Boom FM, was shot dead near the station on Paul’s Avenue around midnight Friday, in a violent incident that also left another man injured.

According to eyewitness accounts, unidentified gunmen exited a vehicle and opened fire. Fergusson, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and legs, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim sustained gunshot injuries to the arm and back and was transported to the hospital.

A Boom FM employee, who was inside the station at the time, was among the first to discover Fergusson’s body. Witnesses reported seeing a black car arrive in the area before shots rang out, causing residents to flee. The assailant reportedly shot Fergusson multiple times at close range after he fell attempting to escape, in what some speculate may have been collateral damage.

Boom FM manager Dwight “Bing” Joseph expressed deep grief and frustration over the killing, noting that the station has repeatedly called for increased police presence in the neighborhood, which also houses several businesses and residential properties. “I am tired of this. I am constantly on the radio begging for security here,” Joseph said. He described Fergusson as a cherished employee who had been with Boom FM since the COVID-19 pandemic and previously worked at Hot 97 FM.

Kingstown residents continue to grapple with ongoing violence in the area, even as intermittent police patrols attempt to maintain order. Authorities have not yet released information on suspects or arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
