Emma Grace, age 17, was a vivid spark in the lives of those around her — gifted, determined, and full of promise. From an early age she devoted herself to music and athletics: an avid saxophonist in the distinguished Tuscola Marching Mountaineers, and a top goalkeeper for her soccer team—ranking among the best in North Carolina and nationally. Her passion and discipline set her apart.
She loved animals without reservation. Every creature she encountered was met as a friend. Her empathy extended outward to her community, her teammates, band‑mates, friends and family. She was known, even then, for her kindness and for the light she brought into rooms.
Her passing leaves a void impossible to fill. To her parents, Douglas Eugene Morrow and Tara Montez Blevins, to her grandmother Montez P. Blevins, and to all the aunts, cousins and friends who held her close: your grief is shared by many who knew her and many who only wished they could know her better. To those countless lives she touched at Tuscola High School, in Waynesville, and in the greater community—know that Emma Grace’s spirit lives on in the memories, the music she made, the saves she achieved, the pets she adored, and the friendships she formed.
Though there will always be the ache of “what might have been,” and regrets over words unsaid, know this: Emma Grace was more than the promise of a future; she was a full, bright presence now. She gave her gifts, grew into her passions, and touched lives with who she was.
In her honor let us talk to our siblings, our children, our friends—on their terms, in their own time—so that no more time slips away unlived. Let her life be a reminder to lean in with care, compassion, and presence.
May Emma Grace rest in peace. May you who mourn her find moments of solace in the warm memories she left, in the echoes of her laughter, in the music still heard, and in the quiet comfort that she was deeply loved.
With heartfelt sympathy and compassion to all who carry her loss.
