A tragic family incident unfolded Thursday night when Galveston police responded to reports of a shooting in the 5100 block of Avenue Q. Officers arrived at 7:49 p.m. to find 34-year-old Tiamoya Deshondra Moore, of Galveston, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Moore was rushed by Galveston EMS to the UTMB Emergency Room, where she was later pronounced dead.
According to investigators, witnesses identified Moore’s 16-year-old daughter, Niyah, as the suspected shooter. In a startling development, the teen allegedly returned to the scene while police were still processing evidence. She was arrested on-site, and officers also recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
The juvenile is currently being held at the Jerry J. Esmond Juvenile Justice Center, facing a charge of murder. Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
