Baby Girl and 6-Year-Old Boy Found Dead in Lake Michigan Alongside Body of Woman, 31, After Alleged Domestic Dispute

While police have not yet released the identities of the bodies, the three deaths are believed to be “connected”

The bodies of a woman and two children have been found in Lake Michigan.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, authorities found a deceased female infant, whose age is currently unknown, at around 11:23 a.m, near South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, according to NBC News, ABC7, and CBS News.

The bodies of a 31-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy were subsequently found on East Hayes Drive — which is about a mile away — around three hours later, per NBC News.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to identify the three people, but police told the outlet that the deaths are believed to be connected and likely to have stemmed “from a domestic dispute.”

However, authorities are not looking for suspects at this time, ABC7 notes, stating that autopsy results are still pending.

The discovery came hours before crews recovered the body of a missing swimmer from Lake Michigan on Saturday, according to ABC7.

Authorities received an alert of three men having trouble in the water at 2611 Sheridan Road at around 7 p.m.

While two of the swimmers were able to be rescued by bystanders, the body of the third was found at around 9:40 p.m.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones,” Evanston Fire Chief Paul Polep said in a statement, per the outlet. “This is a constant reminder to anyone that these waters are dangerous and should adhere to the posted no swimming signs. We thank our regional partners, including MABAS Division 3, the Coast Guard, and the Chicago Fire Department, for their swift assistance.”
