It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Amanda Jean Caruso, who left this world on September 9, 2025, at the age of 28. Amanda passed peacefully after making the courageous and selfless decision to undergo a second lung transplant, a choice that reflected her determination, bravery, and unwavering will to live.

Amanda is survived by her devoted parents, Janice Roback Caruso and Steven Caruso; her loving siblings, Karli, Leeanna, and Trevor Caruso; her fiancé and true love, Matthew Henning; her future in-laws, Noreen Henning, the late Michael Henning, and Michael Henning Jr.; her cherished grandmother, Stephanie Roback (“Nana”); and her extended Roback and Caruso families. Each of these loved ones held a special place in Amanda’s heart, as she did in theirs.

A Life of Courage and Joy
Amanda’s life was defined not by illness but by her perseverance, accomplishments, and the love she shared with others. At just 17 months old, Amanda was diagnosed with a rare lung disease that required a double lung transplant. This first gift of life gave her many precious years to grow, dream, and achieve. Despite setbacks, Amanda never allowed her health challenges to prevent her from chasing her passions or inspiring those around her.

After graduating from Webster Thomas High School in 2014, Amanda pursued her education with determination. She became a licensed esthetician through the Continental School of Beauty, earned her Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology from MCC, and most recently achieved certification as an Oncology Data Specialist. These accomplishments spoke to her resilience and her desire to make a meaningful contribution to healthcare.

Career and Passions
Amanda began working at the young age of 15 at Bill Gray’s Restaurant, and from there, her career blossomed. She worked as an esthetician at Hand and Stone Spa, as a surgical coordinator at Unity Hospital, and most recently as a data specialist for the Cancer Tumor Registry at Rochester Regional Health. Each role allowed her to help others while demonstrating her professionalism, warmth, and commitment.

In addition to her career, Amanda expressed her creativity through Tiny Woman Creations, her handmade jewelry business that she ran for over two years. Her artistry, much like her personality, sparkled and touched the lives of many customers and followers until her health needs required her to pause.

A Voice of Inspiration
Amanda’s reach extended far beyond her immediate circle through her presence on social media. Since the age of 11, she shared her life online with honesty and humor, documenting both joyful and difficult moments. Thousands—if not millions—were impacted by her openness, courage, and radiant positivity. Even during her wait for a second transplant, Amanda continued to inspire others, reminding everyone of the importance of hope, resilience, and gratitude.

Her final posts, shared just before entering the operating room on September 8, 2025, reflected her gratitude for the immeasurable gift of organ donation. Amanda’s story continues to shine a light on the power of selflessness and the critical importance of becoming an organ donor.

Remembering Amanda
Amanda will forever be remembered as a bright light—a woman of strength, love, and joy who touched countless lives. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, fiancée, friend, and colleague. To know Amanda was to feel uplifted by her laughter, her kindness, and her indomitable spirit. Though her time was far too short, her impact will last a lifetime.
