Remembering Ada Josephine: A Precious Life Gone Too Soon

The Layton community is grieving alongside the family of 2-year-old Ada Josephine, whose life was tragically cut short on September 5, 2025, in a heartbreaking accident at the Shiny Shell Car Wash on East Church Street. Ada’s passing has left her family, friends, and neighbors reeling with sorrow as they come to terms with the loss of a child so deeply loved and cherished.

A Heartbreaking Accident
According to authorities and family reports, Ada was near the front passenger side of a truck when the driver pulled forward, unaware of the toddler’s presence. Despite immediate medical intervention and being transported to Primary Children’s Hospital, Ada could not be saved. The sudden loss of such a young life has devastated all who knew her.

A Name with Deep Meaning
Ada’s name carries a story of love and legacy. Her first name was chosen because it was a favorite of her late father. Her middle name, Josephine, honors him even more closely, as it is the feminine form of his own middle name, Joseph. Ada’s identity was thus a living tribute to the father she never had the chance to meet, making her memory all the more precious.

Her father had tragically passed away at a family 4th of July pool party, before Ada’s birth. At the time, her mother, Angela Hansen, was six months pregnant with her. From her very beginning, Ada’s life was marked by the profound love of a family that had already endured great loss.

A Beloved Daughter and Sister
Ada is survived by her mother, Angela, and her three siblings, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. For her family, Ada was a bright and joyful presence, full of energy, laughter, and innocence. Though her life was far too short, she filled her home with warmth and love.

Angela Hansen, a nurse, an Army reservist, and a single mother, has devoted her life to caring for others. Now, she finds herself navigating the unimaginable grief of losing her youngest child while continuing to provide strength and love for her surviving children.

A Community of Support
The community has rallied around the Hansen family in their time of need. Georgia Allred, a family friend and the organizer of a GoFundMe campaign, described Angela as a woman who has given so much of herself to service—both as a nurse and through her military service. Friends and supporters are determined to give back to her now, hoping to provide financial relief and to help fulfill Angela’s wish of laying Ada to rest beside her father.

The fundraiser reflects the collective grief and compassion of neighbors, friends, and strangers moved by the family’s story. Many have offered words of encouragement, prayers, and donations as they seek to support a mother who has faced more loss than many could imagine.

Remembering Ada’s Spirit
Though Ada’s time on earth was brief, her life was filled with love. Her siblings, mother, and extended family will forever remember her smile, her curiosity, and her spirit. She was a child who deserved the chance to grow, explore, and live a full life. Instead, her family is left with memories that, though few, are immeasurably precious.

A Legacy of Love
As the Hansen family prepares to say their final goodbyes, they hold onto the hope that Ada will be reunited with her father in eternal peace. Together, their memory will live on as a testament to love, family, and resilience in the face of tragedy.

Ada Josephine may only have had two short years with her family, but she will remain forever in their hearts. Her life, though brief, has left an indelible mark, and her memory will continue to shine through the love of those she leaves behind.
