A mass shooting at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis has left two people dead and at least 20 others injured, according to multiple sources.

The incident began around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, when a man reportedly dressed in black and armed with a rifle opened fire inside the church, which also houses a K–8 Catholic school.
Emergency services responded swiftly, deploying Multiple Victim Response protocols and mobilizing fire department personnel to assist with triage and transport.
Victims were taken to nearby hospitals, with several reported to be in critical condition. The church, located at 509 W 54th Street, has been evacuated, and the surrounding area remains cordoned off as authorities continue to secure the scene.
In addition to the shooting, there are unconfirmed reports of a possible explosive device at the location, prompting bomb squads to investigate further. Residents in the Tangletown neighborhood described hearing over 100 rounds of gunfire, followed by a flood of sirens converging on the area.
The identity and status of the shooter remain unknown, and a major manhunt is underway. Law enforcement officials have urged the public to avoid the area and report any suspicious activity as they work to locate the suspect and ensure public safety.
This incident comes just one day after another shooting in the area that left one person dead and six injured, intensifying concerns about escalating violence in the community. City officials are expected to hold a press conference later today to provide updates and address public concerns.
