Vincen MillerMarcus J Miller Obituary, Death;- Authorities in Ohio are currently investigating the tragic deaths of a man and his 4-year-old son after the child’s mother was accused of driving her other children into a lake during a vacation.
The deceased individuals have been identified as 4-year-old Vincen Miller and 45-year-old Marcus J. Miller from Millersburg, Ohio, as confirmed by the Tuscarawas County coroner’s office .
Authorities responded to a golf cart accident at Atwood Lake on Saturday, August 23, and became concerned after conversing with the occupants of the cart — a woman and her three children, according to a statement from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.
The unnamed woman allegedly made “concerning statements about conversing with God” during her interaction with the police, which led to the initiation of an investigation.
Three of her children who were present in the golf cart — her 15-year-old daughter and twin 18-year-old sons — were able to escape the water and were reported to be physically unharmed, according to police reports.
Authorities suspect that the act appeared to be “intentional,” and after further discussions with her and the children, police expressed concern for the well-being of the children’s father and their 4-year-old sibling, as stated by TCSO.
On the same day, following a thorough search, police discovered the four-year-old Vincen at the edge of a dock, as mentioned in their statement.
Marcus was reported missing until the next day when he was also found near the same dock, according to police.
The family, identified as Amish, was reportedly visiting the lake for the weekend, as indicated by investigators, according to FOX 8 and WANE.
While police have not disclosed any motives, Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell informed WKYC that the woman may have been experiencing “spiritual delusion” and allegedly told a witness that she had “given her son to the Lord.”
An autopsy is currently being conducted to ascertain the cause and manner of the victims’ deaths, as reported by the coroner’s.
The woman is receiving treatment for mental health issues, according to police. Their most recent statement, released on Sunday, did not provide any information regarding pleas or charges.
