According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were conducting a welfare check at the 1500 block of Mac Charles Ct. in Dunedin after learning that 54-year-old Charles Reid Jr. was sending suicidal messages to his family.
After attempting to make contact with Reid, deputies entered the home through an unsecured door and found Reid’s girlfriend, 42-year-old Sarah Bulat, dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
That’s when deputies heard a gunshot from the bathroom where they found Reid with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Several suicide notes were later found throughout the home and detectives believe at this point that Reid murdered Bulat before taking his own life.
Detectives remained on scene through the overnight hours into Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing.
