Little Rock School Employee Fatally Shot Outside Rockefeller Early Childhood Center; Suspect in Custody

A Little Rock School District employee was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon outside Rockefeller Early Childhood Center, prompting a school lockdown and a rapid police response.

According to the Little Rock Police Department, officers were dispatched around 2:54 p.m. to the intersection of 15th and Bragg streets following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, authorities found a woman unresponsive from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedics’ life-saving efforts.

Mayor Frank Scott Jr. confirmed the victim worked for the school district and said the suspect, believed to have a connection to the victim, was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. Officials emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public.

No students were harmed, though staff witnessed the incident. The district deployed counselors and social workers to support those affected. Authorities continue to investigate, and names of the victim and suspect have not yet been released.
