ONE DEAD AFTER SHOOTING OUTSIDE SYDNEY HOTEL

A person has died, and another is being treated for gunshot injuries following a public place shooting outside a hotel in Sydney’s inner west today.

About 6.40pm (Sunday 17 August 2025), emergency services were called to a hotel on Ross Street, Forest Lodge, following reports of a public place shooting.
Officers attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command arrived to find that two people had been shot multiple times by unknown people before they left the scene in a car.
One of the victims – a man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.
Another man was also treated for gunshot wounds and taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Police have established a crime scene, and Leichhardt detectives – with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – have commenced an investigation into the incident.
