Birmingham Tragedy: 39-Year-Old Demetrice Darnell Beverly Fatally Shot in Apartment

Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Demetrice Darnell Beverly, a 39-year-old Birmingham resident, on Wednesday evening, according to the Birmingham Police Department.

At approximately 9 p.m., South Precinct officers responded to an apartment in the 1100 block of Lakeshore Ridge, where they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced Beverly deceased at the scene.

Beverly, a former wide receiver for the UA Pine Bluff football team from 2003 to 2007, was inside the apartment with a female companion when a male suspect entered, shot him, and fled. The female called 911 and remained at the scene until officers arrived.

Police later apprehended the suspect, 23-year-old De’Corlion Keshaun Robinson, in the apartment complex parking lot. Robinson has been charged with murder and unlawful possession of a machine gun conversion device, with no bond for the murder charge and a $15,000 bond for the firearm-related charge. He is currently in Jefferson County Jail.
