A major police operation is underway after a man was shot multiple times on Doncaster Road in Wakefield on Tuesday night.
West Yorkshire Police say officers and emergency medical teams rushed to the scene following reports of gunfire. The victim was treated at the scene before being airlifted to a major trauma centre. His condition has not yet been released.
Witnesses reported a large police presence in the area, with Doncaster Road closed off near Howarth Timber. Traffic is being diverted through surrounding streets, including near the cemetery into Agbrigg.
A police helicopter was seen circling over Ossett as part of the manhunt for the suspect. Residents have described the scene as tense and heavily guarded.
Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
