A teenager is in critical condition after being attacked with a machete near Atherton Police Station on Wednesday.
The incident occurred near the junction of Gloucester Street, Water Street, and Rosedale Avenue, prompting police to close all three roads as they responded to the scene.
According to authorities, the victim sustained stab wounds to his back and arm during the assault. Emergency services quickly arrived, and the boy was transported to Salford Royal Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police have not yet confirmed whether any arrests have been made, and the motive for the attack is still under investigation.
Residents are advised to avoid the area while the police cordon remains in place. Law enforcement is urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the vicinity at the time of the attack to contact them immediately.
