Authorities have identified the Butler Disposal employee killed in a roadside accident Monday afternoon as 32-year-old Alexander M. Snow of Phoenix, New York.

The fatal incident occurred around 4:21 p.m. on August 11 along County Route 14. According to New York State Police, a Butler Disposal garbage truck was parked on the west shoulder of the road with its hazard lights activated while Snow was working across the street.

Investigators say Snow was crossing back toward the truck when he stepped into the path of a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. The driver, whose name has not been released, immediately stopped and attempted to help. Despite these efforts, Snow succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Authorities report that the driver cooperated fully with the investigation, and there is currently no indication of wrongdoing, speed, or impairment. The incident remains under investigation as troopers gather evidence and speak with witnesses.

Snow’s death has deeply impacted his coworkers and community, where he was remembered as a hardworking and dedicated employee. Tributes have poured in on social media, expressing grief and offering condolences to his family.

State Police are using the tragedy to remind drivers to remain alert and slow down around garbage trucks, utility vehicles, and roadside workers to help prevent future accidents.
