Toyota World Runners Accident: Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans Died in Crash

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our incredibly dear friends, Matthew and Stacey of Toyota World Runners. In a tragic off-road accident, both Matthew and Stacey lost their lives. The past few days have been deeply challenging as we mourn two extraordinary souls who truly lived life to the fullest.

We first connected after telling their story in 4XJournal, bonding instantly over a shared love of Toyotas, craft beer, and adventure. With a little encouragement, we convinced them to visit New Zealand—they stayed in our home, celebrated my birthday, and, of course, enjoyed more than a few craft beers together. We bought and built them a Hilux so they could explore our beautiful country, and I was later fortunate enough to join them in Queenstown for more adventures before sending them off to discover the South Island and beyond.

Matthew and Stacey had an enormous impact on my life. First, through their content. Then, as close friends. We spent countless hours in fits of laughter, and I had the privilege of witnessing their fierce love for one another. Joined at the hip, they were planning their wedding and a lifetime of off-road exploration together. The weekend of their passing, we had planned a video call so they could meet Saskia—our daughter, who Sophie was pregnant with when we all met in person.

Creating content in the outdoors is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be dangerous. Remote locations are part of what makes this lifestyle so special, but they come with risks. Matthew and Stacey knew that—and they embraced life regardless. They leave behind an inspiring legacy of adventure, love, and laughter.
