Four friends killed in Brackenfell road tragedy

A devastating car accident in Brackenfell has left four young adults dead and two others fighting for their lives after their vehicle slammed into a tree and erupted in flames.
The horrific crash occurred just after 6pm on Saturday along Cecil Morgan Drive, where a group of six friends, believed to be in their twenties, were travelling when tragedy struck, as News24 reported. The driver allegedly lost control while navigating a bend, sending the car hurtling into a tree before it burst into flames.
Private security firm Titanium Securitas was one of the first on the scene. According to spokesperson Kobus Kotze, the fire broke out immediately after impact.
Four of the occupants were tragically killed on the spot. The two survivors suffered serious injuries and were stabilised on site before being rushed to hospital.
Captain FC van Wyk, spokesperson for the Western Cape police, confirmed that Brackenfell SAPS has opened a culpable homicide case. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and police are appealing to the public for any information that might assist.
