London, UK: An individual has passed away after being struck by a train in southwest London on Thursday, July 31.

Emergency vehicles and law enforcement were dispatched to the Wimbledon Station following the incident that happened just by the interchange around 7pm.

Multiple officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) were also at the scene. According to a BTP spokesperson, an individual was struck by an incoming train at the station. The person was pronounced dead following the tragic incident.

“We were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Wimbledon Station shortly after 7pm. Paramedics are in attendance, and the station has been closed while emergency services respond.”

Law enforcement say the station is closed until officials clear the area. Passengers from the involved train were evacuated to a location where they were all examined and later released.

More details will be released by the investigating authorities.
