The Kill Devil Hills Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and others injured at the Avalon Fishing Pier on Thursday.

Law enforcement, multiple medics, and fire services were called to the Avalon Pier at 2111 N Virginia Dare Trail for a shooter report. According to the department, one person was confirmed dead and three others were transported in critical condition to a nearby hospital.
Law enforcement agencies say the suspect was intercepted as he fled in a vehicle. The shooter was arrested near the city’s new fire station.
