Travon Wilford, a 30-year-old man, tragically lost his life Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street in Columbus. The fatal incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Polaris Parkway, as reported by WBNS-10TV.

Authorities say Wilford was running across the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk and against the traffic signal when he entered the path of a westbound vehicle on Polaris Parkway. The driver was unable to avoid hitting Wilford, resulting in a serious collision.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and found Wilford with critical injuries. He was rushed to Grant Medical Center, but tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at 10:19 p.m..
Police reported that the driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. There is no indication that the driver fled or was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision. At this stage, investigators have not shared any further details about the driver or whether any charges may be filed.
The Columbus Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash to determine what factors contributed to the tragic loss of life.
