A quiet afternoon in East Austin turned grim Tuesday when a delivery driver discovered two people dead inside a home, prompting a double homicide investigation.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at 4:12 p.m. after the delivery driver reported arriving at a home in the 1900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue near Chicon Street and noticing the front door was ajar. The driver looked inside and saw what appeared to be two lifeless bodies.
First responders from Austin-Travis County EMS and police units arrived quickly and confirmed the deaths of two Caucasian adults at 4:29 p.m. Authorities noted both individuals had obvious signs of trauma. Their identities and the nature of their relationship have not yet been released.
Police say this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is currently no known threat to the public. However, the investigation remains active and ongoing, as detectives work to piece together what happened inside the home.
This marks Austin’s 35th homicide of 2025.
