It is with profound sadness that Georgia Southern University and the Eagle Nation community announce the passing of Nicholas “Nick” Scull, Associate Athletics Director for Facilities & Events.
Nick joined Georgia Southern Athletics in July 2013 and, over more than a decade, became a cornerstone of event and facility operations. As Associate Athletics Director, he oversaw the day-to-day management of athletic facilities, event planning, groundskeeping, and venue operations—all with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Under his leadership, Georgia Southern Athletics earned widespread acclaim for the seamless execution of sporting events, graduation ceremonies, concerts, and more.
A native of DuBois, Pennsylvania, Nick earned his bachelor’s degree in sport administration from Lock Haven University in 2009 and later completed a Master of Science in sport management at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Georgia Southern, he gained extensive operational and event experience with Villanova University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Nick resided in Statesboro with his wife, Melissa Scull, and their daughter, Eliza, whom he cherished deeply. Outside of work, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with his family—especially long walks on the beach.
Nick was born on June 27, 1986. He is remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the Eagle community. His presence will be sorely missed across campus and beyond.
