A proud Cornell University graduate and beloved daughter of New York City, her life was tragically cut short on July 28, 2025, in the devastating shooting on Park Avenue—a senseless act of violence that claimed her life and forever changed the lives of those who loved her.
Julia was the second victim identified in what authorities have called a domestic terror attack. In an instant, her light was stolen—leaving behind a city in mourning, a community in shock, and a family navigating unimaginable grief.
Born in 1999, Julia lived her life with purpose and compassion. She was deeply curious, fiercely intelligent, and unfailingly kind. Whether she was mentoring younger students, volunteering for causes close to her heart, or simply showing up for friends in need, Julia moved through the world with grace and empathy. Her laughter was unforgettable, her convictions unwavering.
Julia is survived by her parents, David and Rachel Hyman; her younger brother, Eli; her cherished friends and extended family; and the countless lives she touched along the way. Her absence leaves a silence too loud to bear.
