Alicia Markovich lived with her mother, Marcie, in Windber, Pennsylvania. At 15 years old, Alicia was a high school freshman, a member of the track team, and an avid reader of Agatha Christie novels. She was known for her spunky personality and had a close group of friends as well as a boyfriend who cared deeply for her.

After her parents divorced in 1981, Alicia regularly visited her father, John, in nearby Blairsville. On the morning of April 26, 1987, John picked her up around 9:45 a.m. to spend the day together. Since Alicia had school the next day, Marcie expected her home no later than 9:00 p.m.
But Alicia never returned—and she was never seen again. What really happened that day?
